چکیده

Variety of ultra-high strength steels (UHSS) with different microstructural characteristics is becoming available continuous development the manufacturing process in steel industries. In order to effectively design structures made such grades, a detailed knowledge mechanical properties vital. Fire safety one areas which essential. Welding indispensable construction inevitable welding-induced degradation UHSSs. Thus, conducting experimental research on elevated-temperature constitutive behavior welded joints UHSSs paramount importance. This study addresses as-received and as-welded S960 (manufactured via direct quenching technique) S1100 (quenched tempered) grades. A fully automated gas metal arc welding (GMAW) low heat input value was utilized join plates. Next, steady-state uniaxial tensile tests temperature range between room (RT) 900 °C were carried out. Accordingly, reduction factor-temperature relations for each tested both forms are discussed compared several standards, as well previous studies literature. Finally, predictive equations proposed estimate factors forms.

Mechanical Properties of Gypsum Board at Elevated Temperatures

Gypsum board is a common fire barrier used in house and general building construction. Recently, evaluation of the collapses of the World Trade Center Towers highlighted the potential role and failure of gypsum board in containing the fires and resisting damage. The use of gypsum board as primary fire protection of light-flame wood or steel construction is ubiquitous. Yet knowledge of the commo...

Behavior of high strength structural steel at elevated temperatures

This paper presents the mechanical properties of high strength structural steel and mild structural steel at elevated temperatures. Mechanical properties of structural steel at elevated temperatures are important for fire resistant design of steel structures. However, current design standards for fire resistance of steel structures are mainly based on the investigation of hot-rolled carbon stee...

Mechanical properties of High and Very High Steel at elevated temperatures and after cooling down

High-strength steels (HSS) are produced using special chemical composition or/and manufacturing processes. Both aspects affect their mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and after cooling down, and particularly the residual strength and the ductility of the structural members. As HSS equates the design of lighter structural elements, higher temperatures are developed internally compar...

High-Strength Bainitic Steels

With careful design, mixed microstructures consisting of fine plates of upper bainitic ferrite separated by thin films of stable retained austenite have exhibited impressive combinations of strength and toughness in highsilicon bainitic steels. The silicon suppresses the precipitation of brittle cementite leading to an improvement in toughness. The essential principles governing the optimisatio...
